Rosalind Sham

Player #17 (previously 97)

Ros (aka…Ros…) works her magic getting the disc moving in any situation. With speed and endurance she’s ready to grind out any point on the field. Off the field she can be seen pumping up her teammates with positive encouragement and energy. You’ll always hear her voice cheering you on during Newell’s wind sprint drills.

Number: 17

Is there significance behind your number?
It was my dad’s suggestion. He’s the youngest of 8 brothers and thought 17 was a clever way to allude to that.

Position:
Handler

What do you bring to the team?
I support the team with my positive attitude and grit on and off the field; whether it’s losing my voice sidelining during long points, encouraging and sharing my experience/snacks with fellow Zenlings or being the one who rides shotgun during road trips and never falls asleep.

Previous Experience:
Tox6ix 2016
Zen 2015
Lily 2013-2014

Current Team(s):
Friendship – our jerseys have an angry pink bear with a rainbow shooting out of his chest.

Nickname(s):
Ros

Do you have a go-to pre/post game meal?
Pre: sausage & egg McMuffin combo; breakfast of champions! 🙂

Least Favourite/ Favourite Fitness:
I like to complain every time Newell presents a fitness drill, but I secretly love fitness. The full-field sprint/lunge jump 20-minute suicide circuit is my favourite. #nopainnogain

Favourite Pump-up Song:
Mad World (Hardwell, Jake Reese)

What is your favourite TUC League/ Team to play on? Why?
Team Friendship because it’s a ship of friends with an angry pink bear thrown in.

Favourite Zen Tagline
#leavenodoubt

What teammate do you admire and why?
Mason- what an airbender this guy is! He’s a super speedy and smart handler with incredible field awareness.  Watching him play is inspiring. His dry wit on and off the field also cracks me up all the time.

Is there any specific moment/ drill/ game that you consider a highlight of the season so far?
Regionals: a) The game against Union was Zen’s most unifying moment thus far; it felt amazing to participate and witness teammates shred zones, make epic grabs and jaw-dropping D’s; b) Getting a D and then scoring immediately for double happiness!
