Misiu Godfrey

Player #49

Misiu He has excellent intuition and a strong understanding of the game on a fundamental level. Ask him questions about strategy and his answer is remarkable. He has a strong presence on both offense and defense. Not to forget his irreplaceable leadership and charisma.

What Misiu’s teammates say:
Is this guy ever tired? We believe Misiu only plays at one level: energizer bunny. He just keeps going and going… He’s as strong and fast at the beginning of warm up at 7am as he is at the end of the last game on Sunday. Which is to say he is very strong still, we do not mean to imply that he plays at a weak yet consistent level constantly. Rather it is the opposite we wish to convey! Furthermore he plays any position the team needs him to play! Maybe we just need to ask him to do more things.

Although his physical stamina is impressive, the first thing you notice about Shoe is his incredible mental fortitude, a righteous and supportive pillar of positivity. He shows us what it means to play at a high level while upholding the spirit of the game.

“His name isn’t MISIU!!?”

“Shoe? Why don’t we ever call him Foot? … oh because of his name.”

Zen – 2016 Misiu has had a long-standing presence in the Ontario touring scene, playing on other notable teams such as NoBS as well as Surge (now known as 613) before coming to Zen. Aside from his impressive hops and extensive knowledge of the game, it’s his infectious enthusiasm and incessant singing on the field that keeps the team motivated and driven, during even the longest of points.

All the food I can fit in me.

Do you have a pre/post game ritual or any other superstitions?
It’s always universe point – every point.

I like bringing Sally Up -> It’s catchy.  Any drill is better when your teammates push you.

Favourite Pump-up Song:
Joker and the Thief by Wolfmother

What is your favourite TUC League/ Team to play on? Why?
Parity League – you get to play with a lot of people.  Other than that I might say Max Power.

Favourite Zen Tagline
#Nationals

What teammate do you admire and why?
Mason Westfall.  He somehow manages to be strong in every aspect of the game (Leadership, Game IQ, Fitness, layouts, etc…) and is still one of the most positive, easy-going, and helpful people on the field.  I don’t know of many other players who are so well balanced, not without going to some pretty high levels of play (and even there…).

Is there any specific moment/ drill/ game that you consider a highlight of the season so far?
Cliche at this point, but our game against Union was pretty exciting.  They’ve had faith in us all season, and it felt really good to show them what we can do.
