Mason Westfall
Player #69
Mason is a phenomenal presence on and off the field. His shifty, well timed movement in the backfield on the O line gives his opponents nightmares. His unique ability to throw from any release point with any amount of balance (or lack of) is sometimes mind boggling. After a season with TULA ‘A’ he’s really upped his handler D and creates a lot of turnovers by forcing his man into tight, low % spaces. Mason is also one of the most clever and fun players on the sideline, he does a superb job of balancing fun and a good natured approach with intense effort and learning for both himself and his peers. He’s developed into a true leader and is valued nearly as much for his knowledge of the game and succinct explanations as he is for his ability to quarterback an offense or defense.
People Talking:
Mason combines an amazing intelligence for the game, throwing precision, well-timed cuts and lack of speed self-awareness on the field. But he is best known for his witty and sarcastic comments, which is why his main role on any team is heckler. He has a unique ability to call you out and motivate you at the same time, with light-hearted but hard-hitting criticism.
Mason has also been a driving force in Zen’s growth the past two years, pushing each teammate to reach their potential and holding them accountable.
“Although I’m not sure why anyone would want Mason as a role model, I can’t help but learn from him and look up to him on and off the field.”
“Every comment is either objectively useful, hell yeah!, or piercing sarcasm cutting straight to the core of your insecurities”
Zen – 2016: Mason joins our Zen line-up this year after an incredible season with MMV. His positivity on and off the field is infectious, and his willingness to make that 2nd, 3rd, heck even a 4th bid on every play always inspires his teammates to up their game and match his intensity on the field.
